✨We are beyond honoured and humbled to be nominated for a 2022 Canadian Live Music Industry Awards (CLMA) Overcoming Adversity Award – Medium Venue/Festival!✨

💫The CLMA Awards will celebrate the live music sector in Canada across 19 categories, as an incredible and long-awaited “reunion” of a community so badly impacted by COVID-19. Industry members are encouraged to cast their votes for the CLMA voting categories by June 3 at https://cmw.net/awards/live/vote/.🗳️

💫When the COVID-19 pandemic forced live music events to shut down, the Festival carried on with its first live-stream format in 2020 and then a hybrid online/in-person event in 2021. It was a challenge, but we were thrilled to be able to continue to offer jazz fans and our community performances featuring local and established jazz artists and emerging talent.

🎻In 2020 – Since physical gatherings were not an option due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival organized its first live-stream format; a two-night, one-day virtual festival with a total of 17 bands and 98 musicians and an online audience of 10,000 audience.

🎷In 2021 – Given the ongoing COVID restrictions, the festival hosted a hybrid festival featuring a combination of online live-streamed & in-person ticketed performances with local and established jazz artists and a one-day free outdoor festival. There was a total of 24 bands and 146 musicians performed at our 2021 festival. We were so excited to see more than 10,000 attendees this year as well.

💫We were also grateful to receive funding from @creativebc to take our learnings from these new formats and produce two comprehensive resource guides on how to host a virtual festival. We were delighted to share the guides with other music festivals and non-profit arts organizations across Canada.

💫The festival and the resource guides would not have been possible without the support of our fantastic funders, sponsors, performers, artists, and volunteers. It is because of our community that we are able to explore, learn and expand the festival each year and offer world-class performances and events for jazz fans from around the world. 🎻🎷🪗

🪗In 2022 – We are all set to come back with full in-person programming with more than 60 bands across eight stages, art installations, Kwantlen Art & Cultural Exhibition, Kidz Zone and much more around the entire community. We are so looking forward to this year’s festival.

Congratulations to all of the nominees!
